With a substantial amount of equity residing in its new brand, and an exciting growth strategy to talk about, Auckland Airport wanted its 2009 annual report to build on the momentum already created and make its story incredibly accessible online

And in a sector facing huge economic turbulence and the consequent challenges – it also needed to save serious money.

After a competitive tender process, designworks was selected for its proposed approach of splitting out the key themes into a highly-engaging website – more akin to a news website than a traditional corporate document.

A ‘dashboard’ homepage was created to allow users to easily access areas of interest. Snapshots of key facts and bold headings cleanly laid out allow the user to get a succinct understanding of the topics, while giving them the pathway to access information to at a deeper level if the wish to.

The detailed sections of the report were provided online in a PDF ‘flipper’ format, with the entire report also available as either a PDF or a black & white print edition for those who requested it.

And as it's still mandatory to supply a printed copy to those who request it, Designworks created a striking one-colour 'newspaper' edition. This format – combined with a 'print to web' workflow created by Designworks, allowing fast and accurate updating of both versions – created greater engagement whilst reducing over cost to the client....and the environment.
