Connecting the cancer council network
Cancer Council Australia

As the country’s peak national non-government cancer control organisation, Cancer Council Australia plays a key role in cancer research, prevention and advocacy.

With each state and territory operating independently with separate designers, Cancer Council Australia found its brand was becoming fractured and inconsistent. It approached Designworks to develop a communications approach and hierarchy that would speak to all members and audiences while staying true to the core idea of ‘connecting the cancer network’.

Designworks’ first step was to conduct a state-by-state, in-depth communications audit of all material. With a complex set of audiences including healthcare organisations, government departments and agencies, the general public, patients and carers, Designworks set about establishing a design and messaging hierarchy that was simple, clear and meaningful to all audiences.

A look and feel was created for all states and territories that aligned more closely to the idea of connections and highlighted Cancer Council Australia’s three main areas of focus: research, prevention and advocacy.

Online brand and communications guidelines were developed to ensure strict continuity along with downloadable collateral templates for each state.
