Mike Watkins

Mike joined Designworks early in 2010 as Group General Manger. His role includes the general management of the business with core responsibilities in the development and delivery of both the account services and new business functions.

Mike is a leading figure in the advertising industry with stints as managing partner of Meares/Taine/MTC, General Manager of M&C Saatchi, Managing Partner at DDB and most recently General Manager at Film Construction. He has worked on a host of brands including ANZ, McDonalds, Qantas, Sony and BMW.

He set up his first company when he was just 16, demonstrating early on his talent in the business world. Within two years his company was the third largest importer and manufacturer of windsurfing equipment in New Zealand. Mike also owned the iconic Parnell Restaurant Veranda Bar and Grill for two years, which was a favorite haunt for the advertising world.

Mike’s happiest place, aside from when he is with his two girls, is on the water, be it windsurfing, wakeboarding or sailing.
