Three 7th form students from Wellington College recently spent a couple of days at designworks, getting a taste of what being a brand designer is all about.
Senior designer, Paul Johnson, gave Simon Baker, Huw Wenden and Sean Burn the brief to create a new brand of 'cool' water that would help entice kids away from more sugary soft drinks, encourage them to drink more of the natural stuff, while winning the gratitude and loyalty of parents. The boys had to name the brand and create a visual expression for it.
After three days studying competitor brands and brainstorming concepts, they settled on the very 'high concept' name 'water' which was a response, they said to 'an over branded world! They then delivered the killer tagline 'watery water, for peopley people' that has been ringing round the office ever since they left.
