Creating New Connections to Dance
The New Zealand Dance Company

"The New Zealand Dance Company aims to create a sustainable, permanent, high calibre dance company with an Auckland home that is dedicated to our finest contemporary dance practitioners and their audience" says artistic director and founder Shona McCullagh.

DW's Michael Crampin says  "We are thrilled to be involved with Shona in the creation of the New Zealand Dance Company. For us the opportunity is to create new connections to dance, making the form more visible and more accessible, while continuing to take people to a different place and space and, ultimately stretch the boundaries of dance and change perceptions.  Connections –  for us it's all about creating new stages and new creative collisions between all areas of the arts. We've just started and we're looking forward to help bring it all to life with design.”

Jef Wong, adds "we've become really inspired by the medium and it has been great to be involved in the formation of the company. We are excited to help Shona and the team realise their vision."

The company will formally launch in 2012.
