Designworks supreme winner
Vero Awards

Designworks has tasted more success after taking out the Supreme Award at the 2010 Vero Excellence in Business Support Awards, which recognises businesses that have achieved for their customers despite the challenges of the very difficult business environment.

Upon receiving the award from Prime Minister, John Key, Designworks' Group CEO, Sven Baker, said the award showed the company’s strong commitment to leading design thinking and delivering tangible business results.

“The award highlights how our unique and innovative approach has supported some of New Zealand’s leading companies and organisations in the past 12 months.

“The success of projects for the likes of AMI Insurance, Monteith’s, Silver Fern Farms and Auckland International Airport, and SMEs such as Methven, HotChilly and Leap, demonstrate how we support our clients through the changing business landscape with the right ideas to help them achieve their longer term goals.

“We are particularly thrilled with the success of brand development projects for SMEs such as HotChilly and Leap. SMEs are the backbone of the New Zealand economy and our design work with both HotChilly and Leap has had a profound and lasting impact on their business performance. Leap has turned around an annual decline in revenue into a doubling of revenue three years running. HotChilly has also trebled the size of its business and expects further growth in the future.

“The award is also a tribute to the hard work and dedication of the Designworks team, which has worked tirelessly to achieve gold medal results for our clients.”

He added: “Given the high calibre of finalists for the Vero Awards, we are understandably delighted to win our category. All finalists in the Vero Awards deserve credit and praise for performing at the very highest level, month after month, year after year.

“Our core strength has always been understanding the gap between where a company wants to be, where its management thinks it is, where its staff think it is and what the market thinks of it.

“We pride ourselves on our ability to design the most successful New Zealand brands in the world.”

The annual Vero Excellence in Business Support Awards are now in their sixth year. The awards are a key event in the lead up to the annual Bizzone Business Expo, New Zealand’s largest event for business.

The winners were announced at a gala black tie dinner at the Auckland Town Hall on Thursday night, 20 May.
